Who we are?

Fulham Reach Boat Club (FRBC) is a London-based Sport for Good charity transforming lives through rowing on the River Thames. Founded in 2014, we exist to remove barriers to physical activity and make sport accessible to underserved communities.  We do this through 4 charitable programmes: Youth Development, Reducing Reoffending (Boats not Bars), Accessible Rowing, and Environmental Action. Through state and alternative provision school programmes, holiday provision, prison rehabilitation, and accessible rowing for disabled people we meet communities where they are and build pathways into lifelong activity, engaging nearly 2,000 participants annually.

Why we partnered with kitround

At Fulham Reach Boat Club, we've always believed sport should be accessible and sustainable. kitround shares that belief. Their circular sportswear marketplace makes quality kit affordable for more people, while cutting the environmental cost of fast fashion in sport. It was a natural fit: a club built on community and a platform built on circularity, working together to make sport better for people and planet

Our objectives together

All profit proceeds from kitround will support our Reach Pathways programme, which provides fully funded annual youth memberships. The programme exists to break down barriers to participation for young people who may not otherwise be able to continue rowing due to financial or social circumstances. Each year, Reach Pathways supports 20 young people, creating greater access, opportunity and progression through sport.

“Every young person and member of our community deserves the opportunity to feel confident, connected and empowered through sport. No single organisation can create meaningful social change alone.  Collaboration is essential, and by working alongside committed partners like kitround, we can use the power of sport and the medium of rowing to inspire healthier lives, stronger communities and greater opportunities for young people and underserved communities across London.”

What's next?

We're launching a dedicated Fulham Reach Boat Club kitshop on kitround - making it easy to buy pregamed rowing and sports kit, with proceeds going straight back to the club. Alongside that, we're running a donation drive to keep local kit in circulation and out of landfill, so good gear finds a new home rather than landfill.

We're also bringing kitround into Fulham Reach's Free Water Sports Week, where they'll be running educational sessions on circular fashion and the environmental impact of sportswear - giving the next generation the knowledge to make better choices, on and off the water.

Why we exist

In the UK an estimated 100,000 tonnes of sportswear ends up in landfill each year.
